Screening for Plagiarism

Screening for Plagiarism

BAKTI UNIBA: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat does not tolerate any form of plagiarism. Every manuscript submitted to the journal is checked for similarity using [Turnitin] before it enters the peer review process, and it is checked again before publication.

Similarity Threshold

  • Manuscripts with an overall similarity index of no more than [20]% may proceed to the peer review process.
  • Manuscripts with a similarity index above [20]% will be returned to the authors for revision before they can be considered further.
  • Manuscripts with a very high similarity index or with copied content that shows a clear intention to plagiarize will be rejected.

The similarity check excludes the reference list, quotations that are properly cited, and small matches of fewer than [1]% from a single source.

Forms of Plagiarism

The journal considers the following acts as plagiarism:

  1. copying words, ideas, data, images, or tables from other sources without proper citation;
  2. paraphrasing another author's work too closely without acknowledging the source;
  3. submitting a manuscript that has been published elsewhere, in the same or another language (duplicate publication); and
  4. reusing substantial parts of the author's own previously published work without citation (self-plagiarism), including community service reports that have already been published.

Plagiarism Found After Publication

If plagiarism is identified after an article has been published, the editorial team will investigate the case in accordance with COPE guidelines. Depending on its seriousness, the article may be corrected or retracted, and the authors' institution may be notified.

Advice to Authors

Authors are strongly encouraged to check the similarity of their manuscripts before submission, cite all sources properly using the APA 7th edition style, and use a reference manager such as Mendeley or Zotero.
